Blog

Jeremy and I are back and settling into married life.  We had a wonderful time in the Cook Islands and I’ll have plenty of pics from our honeymoon to share with you in a future blog post.  For now, I wanted to post a few pictures from our wedding taken by our fabulous photographer Jessica Claire!  Some of you may have already seen these on her blog, but for those of you who haven’t, I wanted to post a few of my favs here.  Be sure to check out Jessica’s blog for the rest.  Also, the super cute duo Mark & Candice Brooke came along with Jessica to second shoot, and they have some fantastic images on their blog as well!

I have to share a little back story about how I found my shoes.  I actually have a few photo buddies to thank. =)  It all started with a blog post by Sarah Chen about some fabulous shoes by Luichiny.  I immediately ordered a cream-colored pair from Zappos and loved them.  But then, while in Las Vegas for WPPI, a few of us “Blueberries” were out shopping for some shoes for a buodoir session, when Crissy Farrah came across the same Luichiny shoes….but in RED….and on SALE!!  It doesn’t really get much better than that. =D

And I love that there are hearts on the bottom of the shoes.  If anyone wants a pair, you can find these shoes on Endless.

Jeremy and I are sitting in the airport terminal right now, waiting for our flight to Rarotonga to board.  We happened to find a wi-fi connection so we hopped online and found these hilarious pictures on Jon’s facebook!  Oh my goodness….we are laughing so hard right now!!

During dinner, Jeremy’s uncles John and Luke apparently took our cardboard cut-out on a little adventure around LA.  So funny! =D

Jeremy and I seriously laughed so hard at this one…..everyone around us at the airport right now must think we’re crazy!

This past week has been a crazy whirlwind!!  I can’t believe it has only been a week since Stacey and Daniel got married….it feels like it’s been so much longer!  Friday morning was Stacey and Daniel’s rehearsal, and then all the bridesmaids spent the day hanging out before heading to bed early.  Saturday morning was the big day, followed by a yummy lunch reception at Lawry’s, and then an engagement session with my friends Johann & Wendy (stay tuned for a post on that).  Then Sunday I threw everything in my car and headed out to Vegas with some friends for a week of awesome at WPPI.  Made it home Thursday night, spent Friday recuperating, caught up on some work on Saturday….and then this morning I flew to SF and back for an engagement session.  Crazy!

And in the midst of that all, I somehow managed to find time to edit a few photos I took at Stacey’s wedding.  I mostly have tons of pictures of us getting ready in the morning, but I did manage to capture a few other cool shots while fulfilling my bridesmaid duties (which mainly consisted of standing there and looking pretty….and I guess maneuvering down the incredibly looonnnggg aisle without tripping).  I was really hoping my bouquet would be big enough for me to hide my camera in since I had such a great view of all the action on stage, but I’m betting Nate & Jaclyn got some pretty awesometastic stuff. 😉

I’m kind of obsessed with Stacey’s shoes

The girls of JAC Beauty working their magic!  And I must say that the 3 of them came in at 5 AM looking amazing!

While Stacey and Daniel were having tons of photos taken of them, I decided us bridesmaids should not be left out!

My pink toes!  I was amazed my pedi still looked sooo good even after a month, and I couldn’t bare to change them even though I thought they looked a little odd with my bridesmaid outfit.  Thankfully, Stacey isn’t a bridezilla and she didn’t mind that I had pink toes for her wedding.

Stacey and Daniel had a yummy, yummy reception at Lawry’s!

Our dresses were made by Theresa, and Stacey’s gown was made by Fionna.

Love love love their cake from Porto’s!

Me and some guy who just so happened to arrive after the ceremony but in time for Lawry’s!?!

Heading home from Vegas soon.  Had a great time here hanging out with tons of awesome photographers and learning from some of the best in the industry!  Ready to come home though and finish up my wedding preps.  Geez…..only 3 more weeks!

Managed to find some free WiFi, so before I go to bed I thought I’d share a few pictures I shot last week at the Walt Disney Concert Hall while I was on jury duty.  I love jury duty if only for the fact that I get to park for free in LA and shoot at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. =)

I’m heading to Las Vegas in a few hours for a photo convention.  Still gotta finish up packing….eeek!  I’ll be out of the office for the whole week and I don’t know if I’ll have any internet access or not, so just a warning that if you email me, you might not hear back from me right away.  But I promise to get back to you a.s.a.p. when I get back!

For those of you who are going to WPPI, remember to stop and say “hi” if you see me around….and I’ll give you one of my new buttons!

Yay!  I am so excited!!  The canvas gallery wrap I ordered for Stacey & Daniel just arrived at my house and it is suh-weet!  I’m so looking forward to ordering more.  I want to order one for our house….but not one of Stacey & Daniel b/c that’d be kinda weird….haha.  Well, I suppose it wouldn’t be that weird if I had it for the purpose of showing clients!

Not sure if you can tell, but I tried to take a close-up on the texture of the canvas.

Look how the canvas wraps nicely around the sides.

To my clients: A canvas gallery wrap goes great on any wall!  And the cool thing about it is that you don’t need to frame it…..they come ready to hang!  Let me know if you’re interested in ordering one and I’ll send you more info. =)

Also, Sarah Chen tagged me a little while back and I’m finally getting to answering it.

What was I doing 10 years ago?
– Just starting high school

Things On My To Do list
– Fulfill my bridesmaid duties
– Finish a ton of album designs
– Have fun hanging out with tons of photographers at WPPI (who’s going?)
– Get married!

Bad Habits
– I bite my nails.  I’m better about it now b/c I’ve been trying to grow them out for weddings, but I still occasionally revert to my old habits.  Old habits die hard.
– I stay up till ungodly hours of the night.  I learned it from my parents.  When I was in high school, we all used to stay up till 1 or 2 am working at the dining room table.
– I often put off fixing my car, and when I finally do, I’ve racked up a hefty repair fee that could have bought me a sweet lens. (Like today….there goes another $400. )

Places I have Lived
– Los Angeles
– Irvine
– Brighton, England (studied abroad for 2 months)

Things Most People Don’t Know About Me
– I am obsessed with tweezing.
– Twisted seatbelts annoy the heck out of me.  I must untwist them!

I tag you!

…until Stacey’s wedding!  I can’t believe it!  I am so happy and excited for her and Daniel and I am probably freaking out more over her wedding right now than mine. =P  I had the chance to go with Stacey to her final dress fitting yesterday…she is going to look gorgeous!!  And I’m so excited about the fact that The Image Is Found is shooting their wedding!  They are so incredibly creative.  If I could have it my way, I would have actually had both Jessica and The Image Is Found shoot my wedding.  But I could only afford one rockstar photographer, so the next best thing was to sucker a friend into having them shoot their wedding. =D

Anyway, in anticipation of Stacey’s wedding, I thought I’d share with you some pictures from the bridal shower we threw her.  It was held at the Scarlett Tea Room in Old Town Pasadena.  If you are ever planning a bridal or baby shower, or just want to have afternoon tea, you should definitely check it out!

Nametags….hehe

We had each guest bring their favorite recipe to put in a recipe box we were giving to Stacey.

The yummy food!

Daniel proposed to Stacey with a crossword puzzle, so we thought it would be fun and appropriate to have a crossword puzzle as one of the games at the shower.

We also had a fun game of Scattegories.  Here are some of the topics Vanessa came up with.

Ooo la la! On to the gifts!

I love the expression on Stacey’s face as she pulls at some sexy lingerie!

These will totally fit her!

Stacey went to school at UCSD, so someone gave her two tickets to the San Diego Zoo.

Would you believe they had a witch outfit at Frederick’s?

A shot of the cool “cake”.

And a close-up on the cutest cake-topper ever!

The bridesmaids and Stacey!

And while we’re on the topic of bridesmaids, check out this crazy animation about bridesmaids!

Had a blast last night at Victor Sizemore’s place hanging out with a ton of awesome photographers!  They had a Red Cheese Photo Booth there so a few of us decided to try and break the record for number of people in the booth.  I think we tied the record!  In any case, it was so much fun seeing friends and making new ones, and hanging out with people in the industry that I respect and admire so much!

Our first attempt…..as you can see, we got a lot better at cramming ppl into that booth.

On a side note, I totally got picked to be on a jury panel….so I’ll be doing that for the next few days.  I’m both excited and stressed out by it.  I just have so much to do right now.  But it’ll definitely be interesting to see how the courtroom works…..totally not anything like what I see on Law and Order….haha!  So if you email me and I don’t get back to you right away, it’s because I’ll be away from my office the next few days.

xoxo

Way back in January, a bunch of photographers from OSP got together to have a big Trash The Dress session at the Salton Sea.  I’ve always wanted to go and check out the Salton Sea because it looks so unique and interesting from pictures I’ve seen, so I was really excited when they decided to have a shoot there.  The Salton Sea is seriously such a strange, bizarre, and eerie place!  But it was the perfect location for what we were doing.  Special thanks to Chris Austin for setting up the shoot!

I have so many pictures from the shoot that I want to share with you, so I’m going to break them up into several posts.  First up, pictures of one of our awesome models, Ashlee!

I had to climb to the top of a sketchy stairwell to get this shot.

Love her eyes!

Stay tuned for more!
