Today is our 1 yr anniversary!  I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone by!  It’s been incredible and I’m looking forward to what’s in store ahead of us.  Love you, Jer.

Last week my sister and I headed out to the Salton Sea to shoot some video & stills for the Good Friday service at out church.  The Salton Sea is such a strange, eerie, fascinating, and weird place.  I first visited a little over a year ago, and it’s so interesting to see how time and the elements have slowly weathered away at things and caused this gentle decay.  Here are a few stills I grabbed of the Salton Sea in between shooting pictures of this cross we brought out there.

A couple of weeks ago I headed down to Jay Reilly’s studio in Oceanside for a workshop on strobe & studio lighting.  Jay is an incredible photographer who shoots commercial/editorial/stock photography, as well as weddings, and I love, love, love his work!

It’s always fun to learn something new!  I’ve always wanted to learn more about lighting but have been slightly intimidated/overwhelmed by it.  Jay totally broke it down for us and made it all seem so simple & doable!  Hopefully I’ll have a chance to try some of it out on my own soon.  Thanks, Jay, for putting on such a great workshop and for sharing your knowledge & expertise with us!

If anyone is interested in any of Jay Reilly’s workshops, you can get more info here: http://www.jayreillyworkshops.com/

We all had the opportunity to practice shooting with the lights.  Here are a couple of shots with the models inside the studio.

Later on we headed up to a rooftop to do some outdoor shooting with the strobes.  Here’s Jay looking quite fierce as we tested out the lights!

I had a great time shooting Joanna & Tommy’s engagement session in Costa Mesa!  I have been wanting to shoot at the anti-mall for some time now.  It’s such a fun place to shop and hang out, and there are tons of neat little spots for pictures.  Enjoy!

Back towards the end of January, I had the wonderful opportunity of shooting a wedding with the fabulous Sarah K Chen.  When I arrived, I found out the bride was actually my friend Ting’s sister, so I was even more excited to be there helping document the day!

The day could not have been more amazing!  The rain had subsided and the clouds had parted way for the sun.  The flowers were beautiful and every detail was simply perfection.  Connie looked absolutely stunning in her Monique Lhuillier gown.  And you could tell from the look in William’s eyes that he was soooo full of love for his beautiful bride.

Thank you to Sarah K Chen for having me along to shoot this incredible day with her.  Be sure to check out her blog to see the many, many beautiful images she took of their wedding day.  There are so many, in fact, that there are 3 posts!

I had a hard time choosing which pictures to post myself since there were sooo many that I loved, so apologies if it takes a while to load!

While Sarah took pictures of the girls getting ready, I photographed the guys.
William gave each of his groomsmen a gift bag complete with USC medallion cufflinks & argyle socks.

Connie & William chose to see each other before the ceremony. Here’s Connie on her way to see William for the first time that day.

Love this sequence…it’s so sweet!
We stopped for some pictures at Richard Nixon Library before heading to the ceremony.
Check out the bling on that ring pillow!
Probably one of my faves of the day (although there were many!).
There was a wish tree for the guests to leave their well-wishes for the couple.
Their wedding was right after the presidential inauguration, so it was kind of neat to be at the Richard Nixon Library amidst all the presidential memorabilia.
Candles were used as the seating cards.  A note in the frame reads, “Let these lights lead the way to your tables.”
Some of the gorgeous details.
The USC marching band made a surprise appearance!  All their USC classmates definitely enjoyed it!
William & Connie’s first dance
And a sweet father/daughter and mother/son dance.

You may remember Dee Dee & Jonathan from their awesome engagement session at LAX.  Well their wedding was equally amazing!  Dee Dee & Jonathan are two of the kindest, warmest people you could meet, and their families were equally warm and welcoming to us as well.  Not to mention incredibly talented!  Their families were very much involved in creating a beautiful & memorable day for Dee Dee & Jonathan, as you’ll see in the pictures below.

A great big thanks to Adrienne Gunde for helping me shoot that day.

Doesn’t Dee Dee look stunning?

Jonathan’s other sister & brother-in-law, who are both pastry chefs and owners of Sketch Ice Cream in Berkeley, made these oh-so-cute cupcakes.  Needless to say, they were delish!

It had been a rainy couple of days leading up to their big day, but the skies cleared and it was a gorgeous day!

A little while back, I had the chance to shoot a fun portrait session for some friends of mine.  Kelly & Garvin have been married for a little while now, but since they never did any engagement or wedding photos, they asked if I could take some portraits for them.  So we roamed around Union Station and my favorite park in LA and had a great time together!  I always find it kind of neat to shoot for friends because I get a glimpse into a side of their relationship that most don’t usually get to see.  The tender embrace, the gentle kiss on the forehead, the intertwined fingers…all of it is sooo sweet & beautiful to see!

Erica & Jason held a very sweet wedding at St. Mark Presbyterian in Newport Beach.  Everything about their day was lovely….Erica in her gorgeous gown, the soft white hydrangeas that decorated the church, Jason’s tearful & loving gaze as his bride walked down the aisle, and the intimate dinner they held at Mastro’s with all their close family and friends.  They did a wonderful job of planning out their day….so great, in fact, that we were actually ahead of schedule most of the day.  When is a wedding ever ahead of schedule?!  And we can’t forget their coordinator, Erwin, who was nothing short of amazing!  Thanks so much for keeping everyone on track throughout the day!

Erica & Jason – We are so happy for you two!  Thank you so much for the honor of being able to share in your wedding day!  (P.S. The food was really yummy!)

Loved Erica’s cute purple flats.  And Jeremy got this great shot of her dress!

If you want to see more pictures from their wedding, check out their slideshow below. And in case anyone is wondering, the song used in their slideshow is Joshua Radin’s “They Bring Me To You” from his Simple Times album. It’s been out for a while now but I finally picked it up recently and can’t stop listening to it!

Just wanted to share a few pictures of some albums that came in over the holidays.  They are both 10×10 flushmount albums wrapped in gorgeous Italian leather.

Here’s Cathy & Jeff’s album in black leather.

Love this image of Cathy as she’s walking down the aisle!

Some details from their reception at the Pasadena Museum of California Art.

And Sonya & Richard ordered this gorgeous album for their parents in brown leather.
