I had myself a little adventure today.  Yes…I gave myself the day off. =)  Yes…I went to the Lakers parade.  Yes…I am a Lakers fan (don’t hate)!

I almost chickened out and didn’t go because I was a bit scared of the crowds & the traffic.  Plus, I didn’t have anybody to go with since everyone I knew had to work.  I was really determined to go, though, because I didn’t want to miss out on the celebration.  This is gonna sound totally cheese, but I’ve missed out on things in the past due to fear and completely regretted it later (whether it be a photography opportunity or a chance to meet someone or whatever else), and this time I wasn’t gonna have none of that.  So, with my camera in tow, I braved the crowds and headed downtown.  I’m really glad I did because it was a lot of fun, and not only did I finally figure out LA’s metro system, but I also got to see my hottie Trevor Ariza! =P

Anyhow, for those of you who couldn’t make it to the party, here are a couple of pictures from today’s parade.

Karen & Mark recently wed in Little Rock, Arkansas, and I had the wonderful honor of capturing their day!  Last year I photographed their friends Sonya & Richard’s wedding, and Karen loved their pictures so she flew me out to Little Rock for her own wedding.  I’d never been to Arkansas before, but it’s really beautiful there, and before I left I made sure to spend a little time exploring the state that is home to Bill Clinton, Mike Huckabee, and Walmart. =)

The night before the wedding, Karen and Mark threw a little party for their friends & family (since many of them came from out-of-town), and they were so sweet to invite me over as well.  All their friends & family are amazing and it was fun hanging out and getting to know everyone.  And imagine my surprise when I discovered a familiar face in their midst…Karen’s maid of honor, one of her friends from Cornell, goes to my church here in LA!  What a small world!!

The ceremony was held at the beautiful Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, and the reception at Windsong Performing Arts Center.  Here are some pictures from their day!

At first I tried to find an angle where Karen’s mom wasn’t in the mirror’s reflection, but then I realized it was kind of special to have her in the background, especially since she & Mark’s mom picked out Karen’s wedding dress.  They have great taste!

The moms were having a tough time buttoning each tiny button on Karen’s dress, so Karen’s brother stepped in to help.

After the ceremony & reception were finished, Karen & Mark took me to the place where Mark proposed so we could take some relaxed portraits.

What is up with the June gloom in SoCal lately?  It’s so strange!  I’m ready to break out my shorts, tanks, and flip flops!  I actually had to turn on my heater today because it was so cold in my office.  But honestly I can’t complain because soon enough it’ll be 110 degrees, I’ll be wearing all black at an outdoor wedding, and I’ll be wishing for cooler weather again.

The afternoon that I met up with Naomi & Henry for their engagement session happened to be unusually cool & windy….actually more like freezing!  Even though there wasn’t any of the warm, golden sunlight we were expecting, the cloudy day still made for rockin’ images!

I kinda like Naomi’s windswept hair here!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, but a good busy!  I’ve been shooting a ton of engagement sessions for my couples getting married this summer.  Here’s one with Beata & Dennis in the Arts District in LA.  I love all the different & colorful backgrounds we found!

We recently flew up to Nor Cal to shoot Phyllis & Benjamin’s amazing wedding!  The day seemed to fly by, but here are some of my favorite moments of the day!

Getting ready at Phyllis’ house….I love the details on her dress!
Phyllis + Benjamin

Phyllis, I hope you don’t mind me posting this shot but I just thought it was too cute & funny not to post!  Let me tell you people, it is no easy task to get into a wedding dress (let alone walk around in it all day).

I had noticed this cute little vineyard next to the reception site & secretly thought it would be a great location for some pictures….but I didn’t think we’d have time to go.  While waiting in a long line of cars to get into the reception site, we noticed the bridal party limo pull into the vineyard.  Jeremy immediately told me to jump out of our car & run over to grab some pictures of them.  So glad it worked out!!

During the reception they blindfolded Ben and told him Phyllis & her bridesmaids were going to each give him a kiss.  Ben’s job was to figure out which one was his wife.  The twist: the groomsmen were the ones doing the kissing!
Phyllis + Benjamin

Ben’s reaction when the blindfold came off & he discovered he was just kissed by five guys and that he had picked Phyllis’ brother out of the line-up as his wife’s lips!  So hilarious!

Here’s another awesome wedding coming your way!  Rica & Leo’s wedding in Irvine was beautiful and I couldn’t be happier for these two!  They are two of the absolute sweetest, most thoughtful people, and it was clear by all the cheering throughout the reception that night that everyone at their wedding was so happy to see these two wed. Here are a few images from their wedding day.

I had a fantastic time shooting Dai & Jonathan’s engagement session in Newport.  They are absolutely adorable together!  Dai told me she hates having her picture taken but I seriously have no idea why….tell me the camera doesn’t love her!

It ended up being pretty cold that afternoon so I really gotta give props to Dai for enduring the cold in her oh-so-cute dresses, and to Jonathan for keeping her warm while we weren’t shooting.  And a great big thanks to Jean for coming out & shooting with me!

Eunice & Ben are two of our good friends and I couldn’t be more excited for these two!  They are so cute together and I am so happy God brought them together.  I’m really looking forward to this summer because we have quite a few friends getting married and I have the awesome privilege of spending the whole wedding day with them, capturing their big day!  Here are a few pictures from Eunice & Ben’s engagement session in Corona del Mar.  I have to give props to Eunice for braving the early morning cold….I was freezing even with mittens and my head wrapped in my scarf!

A few pictures from our trip to New York.  It wasn’t our first time to New York, but it was definitely a fun one, especially b/c it seemed like everyone was there the same weekend so we had tons of friends to hang out with.  A great big thanks to our NY friends Darren & Tiff, Joyce, and Serena for showing us around!
